Two of my sons, Josh on the left, & Kale, shaking their heads at what we have in front of us... but we love it already. Foolish romantics? No choice? Hah ! It's an art project, who cares!
A new wee bridge at the entrance, .... And below, San has already started transforming her downstairs bit...
And this is the view from the north end of my space, upstairs, ... through the still-grotty windows... won't be long till all is sparkling fresh !

2013 has brought many changes, we have allowed our inner worlds to evolve, we have grown up & in & out, and outgrown ourselves, and our daily world, so we have come to a new chapter, a fresh adventure. And here it is.
I'll doc it all here in the blog; so first here's the before shots, but just wait till you see the afters !
These pics are on the day we first saw the cottage. "This is a lot of work" we said to each other ...

"Of all European lands I venture to say that Ireland is the most mystical, and, in the eyes of true Irishmen, as much the Magic Island of Gods and Initiates now as it was when the Sacred Fires flashed from its purple, heather-covered mountain-tops and mysterious round towers, and the Greater Mysteries drew to its hallowed shrines neophytes from the West as well as from the East, from India and Egypt as well as from Atlantis; and Erin's mystic-seeing sons still watch and wait for the relighting of the Fires and the restoration of the old Druidic Mysteries. Herein I but imperfectly echo the mystic message Ireland's seers gave me, a pilgrim to their Sacred Isle. And until this mystic message is interpreted, men cannot discover the secret of Gaelic myth and song in olden or in modern times, they cannot drink at the ever-flowing fountain of Gaelic genius, the perennial source of inspiration which lies behind the new revival of literature and art in Ireland, nor understand the seeming reality of the fairy races."

Get out & garden. This is a very important summer. Get some food producing systems going. Small scale or large, it's all worth it when you sit down to eat it. Do it. If you don't plant it you don't eat it. Worm farms are good too. Produce your own fert from scraps from stuff you grew. How immeasurably satisfying to close the loop like that. Just get out there. Like I said, I feel this is a very important summer for us all here.

a long winter
emotional intelligence and "writer's block"...
such juxtaposition
epitomises my frustrations;
the gnawing rat in my belly
is at least a weight-loss program;
and the PSI in my head
must mean progress.
In the deep of any winter
lies coiled the new season,
hidden, insulated, gestating...
And sooner than later
this hard pruning will unfurl
bright newness
in my long awaited Spring.
Long sought songs of self
and peace, and love which is love.
Nurture the brightness,
for the Summer comes ...
If you want it.
